General Registration Information

Advance Registration ends at 11:59 p.m. (JST, GMT+9) April 14, 2018

Full registration includes access to technical sessions, exhibits, and all social events (Ice Breaker Reception, OES Awards Luncheon, Exhibitors Reception, MTS Awards Luncheon, and Gala Dinner). Prices for various registration categories are provided via the link at the bottom of this page.


Main Conference

There are three options for registering for the main OCEANS’18 MTS/IEEE Kobe / Techno-Ocean 2018 conference:

For those who need VISAs to attend OCEANS’18 MTS/IEEE Kobe / Techno-Ocean 2018, the link to the document for VISA application will be returned to you upon completion of your registration for OCEANS’18 MTS/IEEE Kobe / Techno-Ocean 2018.

Please read below to see which method you should use.

Plenary Session and Exhibit Hall

Both of these events are free of charge; however, you must register either online (select “Exhibits Only” registration) or at the Registration Desk to obtain a Name Badge which is required for admission.


Tutorials held on Monday, May 28, are considered “add-ons” to the main OCEANS ’18 MTS/IEEE Kobe conference and you may register for Tutorials without registering for the full conference.

If you are registering as a full conference attendee, you will be able to add individual tutorials to your registration.


Presenting Author of a Conference Paper or Student Poster

If you are the presenting author of a conference paper or of a student poster and have been notified that your abstract has been accepted, please follow the Author Dashboard login instructions contained in your acceptance email and on the Author’s Instructions page

These instructions will take you through the paper upload process, including copyright, PDF eXpress, and Paper Registration. You will be registering for the conference as part of the Paper Registration process, so please do not use the Attendee registration page linked in the next section. Student Poster Contest authors will receive a free full registration, but still need to go through the regular author registration process.

Conference Attendees Not Submitting Papers or Student Posters

Conference attendees who are not submitting papers or student posters register here. Registration is required even if you plan to attend only the Exhibition or the Plenary Session of OCEANS’18 MTS/IEEE Kobe / Techno-Ocean 2018.

Registration is also required for Tutorials and Workshops and other conference events.

If you need a VISA

If you need a VISA, you will be given a link for the document to send to the application window during the registration process. Please fill-in the document and send to the registration window. Once your paid registration has been confirmed, you will receive the VISA application documents by post.

Cancellations or requests for refunds must be received in writing on or before April 27, 2018. A processing fee of JPY 15,000 will be deducted from each registration cancelled by April 27, 2018. No refunds will be issued for any cancellations received after April 27, 2018; however, transfer of registration to another person in your organization may be possible. Send all requests to and include “Conference Cancellation” in the subject line.
